Serere Central Police Station is investigating another case of murder by strangulation of a Senior three student. The deceased has been identified as Rebecca Abiro, 17, a student of Serere Township Secondary School.
Her lifeless body was found in her grass-thatched house in their home located in Township Cell, Serere Town Council in Serere district on Thursday morning.
Mathew Emeru the chairperson LCI central ward confirms the incident saying he learnt of it at 6am today through a phone call.
Abiro’s demise was reported by her father, Simon Otai and the case was registered under Vide CRB 096/2025, Serere district.
Otai says, his daughter entered to sleep after supper only for him to wake up in the morning and found a broken door of his daughter and upon entering in, he found the daughter lying in a pool of blood dead.
According to the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, Damalie Nachuha, no suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident.
She says that the deceased was raped and strangled using a mosquito net.
The body has been taken to Serere Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem.
